How about March or April? Ideally, we should do it sooner, rather than later. That way, we've done a preliminary site recce and talked to the site operator all in one go and can sort something out before PBI announce a September game.

Nothing at all to stop us from asking if CA would be amenable to letting us take over the site (40 players & £15 - shall we say a flat £600 site fee?) & sort firm date when Guy has said his availability.
Yeah, most of us have been there before anyway, it's a good site.

Not long got off the phone to Gadge (I was talking about Jedburgh to him, garnering some PBI support and mentioned I might go to Freshman). He mentioned that PBI are looking to retry an Oosterbeek game in Spetember. I didn't mention what we had planned.

nice to hear from you, and glad the events are going well.
I will be pleased to let you use the site on October 3rd. We would, of course, need to have a presence of marshals for the day, and several of ours do have WWII gear, as you know.
Just let me know how you normally proceed with regard to finances, and we can go from there.

If we cap this at 40 players (given the size of the site I'm personally happy with that) @ £15 = £600. I'd prefer to offer a lump sum - this looks more tempting. It does mean a small risk to us but even if it was a disaster and we only got 20 players @ £30 we could still run a cracking game with no loss of revenue other than a hit on reserves for pyro and such.
Excellent. I'm up for paying the site a visit asap. In fact, I'm free on Feb 14th during the day (before the obligatory meal, wine and fumble with the wife in the evening), so, I'm tempted to go to the open day and have a mooch.
Edit - Does Chris not know we run without marshalls and the side commanders coordinating players?

We normally just pay the site's going green fee. I think we will cap this event at 40 players so that would be £600 I think for your site. We don't try and negotiate 'better' prices - we are happy to pay the standard fee for the privilege of being allowed to take over someone else's site for a day! In the past worked on a per player basis but we are pretty confident of getting 40 players so it's easier to agree a lump sum, then everyone knows where they are.
None of our events need marshalling in the open day sense as there is a high degree of self-marshalling and peer pressure to 'behave' and if there is anything untoward then us commanders will sort it. So, marshalling from your end would be to satisfy yourselves of H&S and site needs, not game running/supervision as such. But we would like you to join in of course and have a day off from site running!
A couple of questions:
Are there any problems with pyro at the site these days?
Our players come from all over the UK - is camping overnight on Saturday OK?regards

that will be fine. I'm sure our marshalls will be only too glad of a stress-free day. Our only pyro regs are that only TLFX pyros are used, and no MK 9s or similar loud thunderflashes are used. There is a campsite/caravan park at Fineshade, and that is the only camping allowed. I am sure that your guys can arrange something with them. If not, I will make some enquiries in the local area for you.

Hmmmm, maybe with a bit of explanation they'll allow us to camp on site.
The idea of going to a campsite, with rules and regs and lights out times seems a bit....well......you know.
The camp site is just adjacent to the site (you can see it on the Google map) so I don't think that is a huge problem (and chaps don't need to faff with period tentage).
But the problem will be noise etc as you say (Yith!)

That would be cool. I can't make the open day now, as we're having the wifes' 40th birthday party the night before, so I suspect getting up early may be a problem! (And she pulled a face when I suggested I might go airsofting on Valentines' Day!).
But a quick site recce in the afternoon is definitely a "go" for me. Perhaps even a visit to the campsite as well?
As for camping, I really can't see the harm in using a campsite if we have to. People will have to turn in at a sensible time AND clean up after themselves as well! Surely, there's a pub somewhere near, if they want to be a bit more noisy? I'm sure any pub would appreciate the massive profits from having the D&B for a night!

Yes, we should perhaps check the acceptability of the uniforms first though!

I recalled the low noise pyro thing, they got upset with my crow scarers on last visit 
Scenario looks good as well, and might be worth checking if Dave Barretts vehicles could use it at the site visit, from memory there are a few tracks but they might not be allowed?
